In 2017, the Swedish Institute will conduct visiting programmes under the theme of innovation and entrepreneurship, community development, technology and digitalisation as well as sustainability. The first programme took place at the end of April.
Participants from Israel, Ukraine, China, the United States, Egypt, and Qatar were able to meet official actors in Sweden, which are the faciliators for innovation and entrepreneurship eco system in Sweden. Among these we could find the Innovation Council, Vinnova, Almi, Tillväxtverket and Business Sweden.
The delegation visited Luleå and learned how the region has invested in the new data center industry sector, which is growing in Sweden. Luleå municipality greeted the delegation with Niklas Nordström, Mayor of Luleå, for a full day visit, including Facebook’s data center.
The delegation also participated in IVA’s seminar on how innovative environments can develop the forestry industry. They visited Synerleap, an innovation growth hub in the heart of ABB’s research and development department, where they were received by Anders Teljebäck, Mayor of Västerås. They met investors at SUP46 and listened to an international TED Global speaker.
These visitors’ programmes aim to increase the participation of Swedish companies in the global economy in line with the government’s export strategy. The goal is strengthened dialogue, increased knowledge exchange and more long-term, mutual relations between foreign decision makers and Swedish authorities and business.
