The Swedish Institute organises summer courses in Swedish as a foreign language. Foreign students of Swedish at intermediate or advanced university level can apply for scholarships for SI summer courses. SI has no courses for beginners.
The summer courses are generally arranged in co-operation with Folk High Schools in Sweden. Participants are given a unique possibility to meet with a genuinely Swedish environment. The peaceful milieu facilitates concentration on language studies.
Generally there are five courses scheduled per day. Additionally participants should count on having to devote several hours outside the class room to teamwork and individual studies. Compulsory activities such as field trips are often arranged.
Who can apply?
Participants must have studied Swedish for at least one year or 100 hours or more at university level. For application forms and more information about SI summer courses, see the Swedish-language website Svenska språket i världen.
Please note that SI has no beginner’s summer courses. If you are a beginner, you might be interested in our web course Learning Swedish.
