The Swedish Institute actively works with SI Network for Future Global Leaders (NFGL) – a network that aims to build a long lasting relationship between Sweden and our scholarship holders.
The network provides the possibility to participate in events, workshops, seminars and visits to companies around Sweden and aims to provide the scholarship holders improved goodwill and knowledge about Sweden.
NFGL creates a durable sense of community between the scholarship holders and a strong relation with Sweden and this helps build the foundation of our Alumni network. All our scholarship holders and alumni are key players for the continuing exchange of knowledge within education and research between our countries but also within the global dialogue of democracy, human rights, sustainability and equality.
Since January 2015, SI supports NFGL local networks at Swedish universities. The purpose of the NFGL local networks is to give SI scholarship holders the opportunity to arrange events and build strong networks with each other and with different parts of the Swedish society. The goal is to strengthen leaderships skills, increase the ability to run projects, develop active participation and strengthen networks between scholarship holders. In the autumn term of 2016, we have the following local networks: Dalarna, Göteborg, Jönköping, Kalmar, Karolinska, Linköping, Luleå, Lund, Skövde, Stockholm Media and Human Rights, Stockholm Sustainability, Stockholm Tech & Innovation, Umeå, Uppsala, Växjö and Örebro.
The network targets scholarship holders from the following SI scholarship programmes:
- Visby Programme
- Swedish Institute Study Scholarships
- Swedish-Turkish Scholarship Programme (Master’s level)
- Swedish-Turkish Scholarship Programme (PhD studies and postdoctoral research)
- SI Scholarship for the Western Balkans (Master’s level)
- SI Scholarship for the Western Balkans (PhD studies and postdoctoral research)
